Khachatur Poghosyan says he wanted to scare Hayrikyan
Khachatur Poghosyan, the man who shot at ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan on January 31, 2013, today announced in court that he only wanted to scare Hayrikyan and had no intention of killing him. He also said that they had used plastic bottles to deafen the noise in order not to frighten Hayrikyan's neighbours.
Poghosyan again reiterated that Vardan Sedrakyan, another presidential candidate in the February election who is accused of masterminding the assassination attempt upon Hayrikyan, was not linked to the assault. Poghosyan said the assassination attempt was plotted by him and the other defendant in the dock Samvel Hharutyunyan.
