Revolution brings also 2018 Free Media Awards to Yerevan

The 2018 Free Media Awards will be bestowed at the Free Media Awards conference in Yerevan, Armenia under the auspices of Fritt Ord and ZEIT-Stiftung, on Tuesday 2 October 2018. By the decision of the jury, which includes well-known journalists and human rights defenders from different countries, the awards go to there medias: Chai Khana in South-Caucasus, Fontanka in Russia, and the Belarusian website Belarus Partisan. The award is given for efforts to strengthen the freedom of the press despite of pressures and financial difficulties. From Armenia, medias that were awarded this prestigious award were "A1 +," Epress, journalists Marianna Grigoryan, Edik Baghdasaryan, Zaruhi Mejlumyan. Until the award ceremony, a conference about the press freedom risks, trends of development, and so on, will take place. By the way, one of the reasons why Yerevan is hosting the awards ceremony is the growing interest towards Armenia after the Velvet Revolution.
