ARMENIAN NATIONAL TEAM HEADS TO CYPRUS

Armenian national soccer team leaves for Cyprus on Sunday to take part in international tournament.{BR} Armenian Football Federation delegation will head to Cyprus as well to attend the event. The team will face Hungarian national team at its first match. The winner will compete with Latvia-Kazakhstan match’s winner.

AGASSI REACHES QUARTERFINAL

Tennis player Andre Agassi has reached the Siebel Open 2004 quarterfinal by defeating Mudi of Wales 7-6, 6-4.{BR} Agassi’s quarterfinal rival will be Michael Gambill.

SARGSSYAN LOST

Sargis Sargssyan from Yerevan lost to Korol Kuchera by 2:6, 1:6 in the 2nd event of Milan Indoors-2004. {BR} In the 2nd event of Siebel Open Andre Agassi will compete with Wesley Mudi. In case of victory Agassi will play with Michael Gembil who won a victory towards Ji Hipentstile by 6:3, 6:2 in the 2nd round.

On February 12 wrestlers Artyom Nalbandyan from Gyumri /60 kg/ and Jiaryr Hovhannissyan of Vanadzor /66 kg/ left for Sofia, Bulgaria, with their trainer Hrant Enokyan. {BR} The Armenian wrestlers will partake in the international rating tournament.

KARAMYAN BROTHERS QUIT ARSENAL

ARMENIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ON SESSION

On Wednesday, Armenian Football Federation’s Executive Committee held its first session in 2004.{BR} The committee’s official Robert Dallakyan said eight teams will compete in Armenian Premiership 2004. Premier League competition will start on April 8. First round will be completed on July 10. The second is to start a month later, on August 10 and be over on November 7.

Armenian tennis player Sargis Sargssyan has reached the next round by beating Sepi 6-1, 6-4 in Milan Indoors 2004. Andre Agassi defeated Irakli Labadze 7-6, 6-4 in Siebel Open 2004.

AGAIN COMPETING

Siebel Open- 2004 started in USA. 32 tennis players partake in it. Andre Agassi who is considered the 2nd tennis player of the tournament will compete with Georgian Irakli Labadze in the 1st tour. {BR} Milan Indoors- 2004 has staged in Italy. 32 tennis players take part in it. Sargis Sargssyan from Armenia will compete with Andrea Seppi.

MATCH ENDS IN DRAW

Soccer tournament among five teams is on the way in Norcia, Italy. Armenian Pyunik faced Albanian national team at the second round on Sunday. The match ended in 2 - 2 draw. The next Pyunik’s match with its another rival, Romanian Oradea, is scheduled for Tuesday.

Yerevan “Pyunik” played in the football tournament in Nortsia, Italy. {BR}The champion of Armenia competed with “Arges” of Romania by 0:0. On February 7 “Pyunik” will play with the team from Albania.

ONE VICTORY

International badminton tournament took place in Iran Islamic Republic. Combined teams from 31 states partook in it. {BR} Female and male teams from Armenia as well took part in the tournament. There were 4 sportsmen in each of them. Only Anna Nazaryan and Ruzan Hakobyan couple managed to win a victory. As a result of it they are now in the list of 60 best female badminton players.

MALEEVA-BERBERYAN SCORED VICTORY OVER LAURA GRENVILL

Magdalena Maleeva-Berberyan of Bulgaria claimed 6-1, 6-3 victory over Laura Grenvill at the second round of the international tennis tournament in Japan.{BR} At the third round, Maleeva-Berberyan will face Yai Sugiyama who defeated Ell Kalence 6-3, 6-3 at the second round.

The international rating tournament of free-style wrestling took place in Bratislava, /Slovakia/. Armenia had 4 representatives there. {BR} Martin Berberyan of Yerevan /55 kg/ held the 3rd place and won 2004’ Olympic pass. Ara Gevorgyan from Artashat /74 kg/ as well won the 3rd place. Thus, 2 more Armenian sportsmen besides 9 gained permit for Olympic Games.

BILIBIO IS NOT IN “PYUNIK”

FIRST GRADUATES GIVEN DIPLOMAS

Ceremony of handing diplomas to first graduates of referee school was held Wednesday in Armenian Football Federation office. Diplomas were handed by Ruben Hayrapetyan, the head of the federation.{BR} Two-year-long study in the school is tuition-free, as it sponsored by the federation. It is the only referee school all over the CIS territory.
