“Every journalist should be informed on the subject he or she is writing about, but his/her journalistic skills are much more important,” says Gevorg Hayrapetyan, a lawyer of the Freedom of Information Center NGO. “Otherwise, our MPs will be forced to test their knowledge, because journalists will win most of them with their knowledge,” he said. Gevorg Hayrapetyan is convinced that by demanding to choose the journalists who are going to cover parliamentary activities state officials try to ‘enchain’ them. “It turns out that the legislature is trying to take everything in its hand and choose journalists who will cover the activities of Armenian Parliament,” he said.
