I am a director by profession and a photographer by conviction. Photography is an art for me,” says photographer Robert Karapetyan who apprenticed to Armen Gulakyan, Vavik Vardanyan and Vardan Achemyan. As a photographer, he worked for the newspapers “Avant-garde,” “Yerekoyan Yerevan” (Evening Yerevan) and “Hayreniqi Dzayn” (Voice of the Motherland). While performing his professional activities, Robert Karapetyan photographed many great Armenians, the Armenian capital. Now he lives and works in New York and publishes his articles and photos in Armenian newspapers based in New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Lebanon. Robert Karapetyan never misses an opportunity to visit Yerevan and every time he takes photos of his favourite city. This time he arrived in Armenia to attend the exhibition of his photographs of Surb Hovhannes Mkrtich (St. John the Baptist) Church in Abovyan, which has opened at the Moscow Cinema in Yerevan.
