Bollywood is in Yerevan for a week (video)
“I am still alive”, “Life can’t be boring” and two more hits in Moscow cinema for Indian film lovers within the frames of the project called “Indian films week”. Bollywood is celebrating the 100th anniversary of film industry. During Soviet years it wasn’t common to watch Indian movies in Moscow and Nairi cinemas. Hayrenik cinema was showing Indian movies and how people used to joke years ago, “elephants’ world” started there. Indian movies fans made a real mess for tickets. During post Soviet years the cinema was closed, but the interest toward Bollywood movies hasn’t decreased. Internet replaced the cinemas. It is a Facebook user’s post, “Blind love” is the most romantic, the most emotional and tragic film, or a quiz- “Which Indian movie made you cry the most…?”. Bollywood produces more than 1000 films annually. Every day about 14 million Indians go to the cinemas to watch new movies and during the songs the audience can stand and dance in the hall. For most of them it is the only source of information and their dream-world. For the first time Indian audience saw a kiss on the screen in 1983. But it isn’t favorable even today. Time is flowing and traditional Indian songs and dances are mixed with modern rhythms, Indian traditional clothing was replaced by fashionable look. Indian film maintained its emotional uniqueness and world of dreams, as people always need a tale, dream and hope so that kindness can win in the end.
