What punishment awaits actor Vardan Petrosyan? (video)
A new stage of forensic investigation is possible in the case against actor Vardan Petrosyan. Petrosyan was taken to jail in connection with the deadly road accident on October 20, 2013, in which his BMW collided with another vehicle, Niva, on the Yeghvard-Yerevan highway. Two sixteen-year-old boys were killed and four others were injured in the accident. Petorsyan himself was severely injured and taken to hospital where he underwent surgery. Petrosyan’s lawyer Nikolay Baghdasaryan says justice has not been administered in connection with his client. The judge in the case chose the easiest option, saying they were not going to check or verify Petrosyan’s words. When the court refuses to find out the truth, the prosecution has nothing else to do,” the lawyer told A1+ The prosecutor is to make his speech on December 17. The actor is charged with Article 242 Section 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia ("breach of traffic rules and operation of means of transportation, which by negligence caused the death of 2 or more persons"). If convicted, Petrosyan faces a sentence of 4–10 years in prison.
