Rising gas prices may increase public transportation prices (video)

This year we witnessed an unprecedented increase in prices of food products ahead of the New Year and Christmas holidays, says Chairman of Armenian Consumers' Association. “Our studies have shown that prices go down during the holidays as compared with the previous years but this year we have observed uncontrollable surges. Even gas filling stations have increased the prices of compressed gas which can, in turn, lead to the increase in transport fees,” said Armen Poghosyan. One of the reasons of the current situation is the depreciation of the Armenian dram and Russian ruble. “The government says inflation made 5 percent but we believe that it was 10 percent. Our studies have shown that the prices of essential goods have risen by 28 percent in the last three years,” he added.
