Spokesman for the Armenian Defence Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan does not find it appropriate to make a statement after each gunshot by the Azerbaijani side. “Every day, we receive at least ten reports about shooting on the border. We have never concealed anything from our people,” he says. On Thursday, February 5, a resident of Nerkin Karmiraghbhyur, Vanik Ghukasyan, was fatally wounded in the yard of his house in another ceasefire violation committed by Azerbaijan. Border villages in northwestern Tavush province came under Azerbaijan’s firing for several hours overnight. “They will not go unpunished. Unlike them [Azerbaijanis], we are not fighting with civilians. We know our enemy well enough – these are soldiers sitting in trenches,” said Artsrun Hovhannisyan. Speaking about the situation on the border, the Ministry official said ‘we are fighting a slow war.’ "If we lose this war, we shall not only have victims but we shall also lose military positions. If we start responding to their ceasefire violations, we shall start losing the war,” he said.
