Economist: Russia is based on political and economic aspirations of Putin (video)
The switchover to a single currency would be acceptable if Armenia was integrated into an economically larger structure, says a former chairman of the Armenian Central Bank. “As long as this structure is Russia which is based on the political and economic aspirations of a single person –Vladimir Putin- we need not expect economic benefits from that structure,” says Bagrat Asatryan. The economist says Armenia cannot exit from the single currency; the country has no other option. “Under the economic documents the financial integration and the switchover to a single currency were to be finalized within 15-20 years but Putin outstripped everyone with his statement,” said Mr Asatryan.
