New bid submitted for 40.8 % electricity rate hike
Five major power generating companies in Armenia have asked the Public Services Regulatory Commission to revise electricity tariffs. In a bid submitted to the Commission, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, the International Energy Corporation, the Yerevan Thermal Power Plant, the Hrazdan Energy Company (Kotayk region), Gazprom Armenia CJSC’s Hrazdan-5 station, the High Voltage Electrical Networks and the Energy Ministry’s Service Center offer new tariffs for consumers and have submitted with the PSRC the necessary documents to justify the bid. Today, the Electrical Networks of Armenia, the electricity distributing company, charges 41.85 drams per 1 kWh of electricity during daylight hours and 31.5 drams for night hours. If the PSRC approves the new tariffs, the prices will go up by 17 drams (40.8 %)
