Eurovision 2015: Armenia’s Genealogy is in final
Armenia, represented by the group “Genealogy,” has entered the final stage of the Eurovision 2015 contest. The first semi-final of the song contest took place in Vienna, Austria on May 19. Armenia was represented by Genealogy group, consisting of Armenian singers from Armenia and 5 continents, who presented the song "Face the Shadow". Genealogy is represented by Vahe Tibian (Ethiopia), Tamar Kaprelian (America),Stephanie Topalian ( Japan), Essai Altounian (France), Mary-Jean O'Doherty Basmadjian (Australia) and Inga Arshakyan (Armenia). At the end of the song each of the group members stood on a map, showing the countries they were born in and then they reunited in Armenia. Before the official opening of the song contest, Charles Aznavour, the world-famous French singer of Armenian descent, wished success to Genealogy on his Facebook page. “Young Armenians from five continents will be trying their luck at Eurovision Song Contest. I wish you all the best during the contest. Our hearts are with you,” he wrote. Albania, Russia, Romania, Greece, Hungary, Estonia, Georgia, Serbia and Belgium are also in the final which will be held on May 23.
