Armenian robots may have decreased number of casualties
Today 11 teams from Armenia’s various schools and educational centers have been competing so that their robot-sapper is recognized the best.
For winning in the competition it is necessary so that the robot can overcome all the obstacles and can find the mines, which are in 3 meters depth under the artificial grass, can find its place and send an electronic map to the computer with the arrangement of the mines.
The teams composed mainly of schoolchildren are determined. They say that it isn’t difficult to create a robot, especially when you work in a team. The children say that it is important to be good at physics, mathematics and have good logic.
Anush Torosyan, conductor of the robotics at “Educational bridge” educational institution of Vanadzor, says the young are interested in the sector. She is sure that the children, who today are taking part in the competition, will achieve great success in the robotics sector in the future.
For the Vedi high school team the robot-sapper is already their third work. They have created a robot cutting a ribbon, which, by the way, opened Digitec expo; and another work is BOR robot, a robot useful for the army. “The robot is composed of three parts; one is for conveying medical aid to soldiers in impassible places, one throws grenade at the adversary’s positions, and the third throws a bomb,” tells one of the teammates and says that their robots can become a part of the army and decrease the number of casualties.
“Robot, finding a mine, stops, fixes the place, decides its coordinates in the territory and writes it on the memory card. After the work of the robot we remove the card, connect to the computer and see where the mine is,” explains Rafael Darbinyan from number 5 school of Vanadzor and adds that he and his friends do all this so that after some years the robots can fully replace the explorers so that there will be few losses.
The winners of the competition will be known in a few days.
