Protest action in support of Levon Hayrapetyan (video)
Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan is innocent and must be released, think the citizens, who are staging a protest action in support of Levon Hayrapetyan on Yerevan streets, protesting against the detention of the businessman by the Russian law enforcement officers. Lawyer Haykaz Makaryan thinks that the judgment on four-year imprisonment is baseless, a political factor exists in it, and Levon Hayrapetyan must be set free by the Russian authorities.
At present the protesters are beside the MFA building demanding to take steps for setting free. Later the march will move to the RF Embassy.
To remind, Moscow Court sentenced Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan to 4 years imprisonment on April 14. The Court found him and lawyer Sergei Antonov guilty for embezzling 700 thousand dollars from ex-senator Igor Izmestyev’s mother.
Earlier, the prosecutor had demanded 7 years imprisonment.
The philanthropist doesn’t accept his guilt. He has had two heart attacks and suffers from diabetes and cancer. But on April 15 he was transferred to a cell, where the inmates sleep in turn due to the lack of place.
