Flooding claims lives of two soldiers
At least two soldiers died in floodwaters overnight as the river overflowed its banks because of heavy rains and flooded the nearby military positions in Jabrail on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. As reported by Aravot.am, floodwaters swept away six servicemen this night. Four of them have been found and are reported to be in critical condition. Spokesman for the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, confirmed the information but he refrained from giving more details. According to the Investigative Committee, after last night’s heavy rains and floods Junior Sergeant Vardan Ghrmajyan and Private Armen Gazaryan went missing while performing their military duties. Ghrmajyan’s body was found at 05:45 while Gazaryan’s body at 09:30 in the neighbouring areas.
