Lars to be open until 8.00 pm
All roads in Armenia were passable as of 10.30 a.m., according to the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations. Georgian Interior Ministry’s Emergencies Department reports that on July 18 the Upper Lars crossing will be open from 06.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. The highway will be close again in the evening hours and at night for security reasons. The crossing is open for all types of vehicles in case they observe the security rules. Upper Lars crossing, which serves as Armenia’s main trade route to Russia, reopened to traffic after being blocked by a massive landslide on June 24. Hundreds of people and trucks remained stranded at the mountainous checkpoint for two weeks after the closure of the checkpoint.
