Violence against women in figures
International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is observed worldwide on November 25. The results of the survey conducted by the United Nations Population Fund in Armenia in 2015-2016 show that women do not admit that they are subjected to physical violence by men. Only 12.5% of women surveyed said they were subjected to violence by their partner while 17.4% of men said they used physical violence against women. About 45.9% of women said that they were subjected to psychological violence by men. A total of 1617 people participated in the survey. According to the survey, 86.6% of the women surveyed admitted that the decision to have induced abortion was taken by their partner, and only 23.6% of men surveyed admitted the fact. About 85.9% of respondents agreed that a woman should remain a virgin until marriage.
