Who do not have depression after New Year? (video)
People should celebrate holidays and not eat, as it is accepted in Armenia. According to the words of psychologist Mihrdat Madatyan, though the way New Year was celebrated in Soviet era has changed a bit, the tradition of celebrating New Year by sitting around tables and eating continues, which contributes to development of depressive feelings among people. At the same time New Year is a symbolic feast, which separates old year from new year. Everybody tries to leave their problems in the past year, pining new expectations on New Year. Very often the threshold of those expectations is high and the very first problem may result in apathy. According to the psychologist, stress after New Year is typical of not only Armenians, but exists in the whole world, simply in other countries people resume working starting from January 2-3rd. Yet, in Armenia New Year is celebrated 9-10 days, which is equal to a full holiday, returning from which is very difficult. “People, who like their work and go to work with pleasure, don’t have depression, as starting from January 3 they wait for the working days. People, who don’t go to work with pleasure, tend to have depression. Their stress will last longer. There is special rule abroad for stress after holidays, according to which a person, who has returned from holiday isn’t overloaded with work and is allowed to share his impressions before fully engaged in the work.”
