“Everybody decides himself how to use his voting right”
Central Electoral Commission Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan links the inactivity of citizens in Yerevan Council of Elders elections held on May 14 to participation of few political forces in the electoral process, “Only three political forces participated in the elections. I think that factor was decisive in connection with the number of voters. Many citizens came to polling stations for giving a vote to this or that party.” In reply to the question whether it doesn’t show the indifference of the people towards the electoral process, Tigran Mukuchyan answered, “I don’t think so, everybody decides himself how to use his voting right, if a person decides not to participate in the elections, it is his right.” By the way, the political parties participating in the elections can submit an application to the CEC for recognizing the results of the elections invalid until 17:00, May 19.
