TAX EXECUTIVES SPEAKING ON THE SYSTEM

Armen Alaverdyan and Arthur Osikyan, Vices of the Head for State Tax Department of Armenia, were the guests of National Press Club.

“Tax and customs collection will exceed the target of 258 milliard drams planned by budget”, Armen Alaverdyan said. According to him, only the tax inspectors collected about 100 milliard drams during the 10 past months. “Our system doesn’t hamper business development in Armenia”, Mr. Alaverdyan says.

In response to discontent of taxpayers, Mr. Alaverdyan says the law provides collecting the profit tax of prepayment. He said dissatisfied taxpayers may profit. “The taxpayers are exempted from the fine for not having paid the tax in time”, Armen Alaverdyan says.

Arthur Osikyan informed 12.000 breaches were fixed in 2004. It is more by 3000 than in 2003. 23 criminal cases were instituted upon them.

Under the information of high tax-gatherers, there are about 400 great taxpayers in Armenia. They pay the 60% of the collected tax. A journalist asked maybe the main revenues are in their hands. “I can’t say since they also have shares”, Armen Alaverdyan answered.
