OCTOBER 27 TERRORIST ACTION: WITNESSES SPEAK AT TODAY'S HEARING
Support A1+!A number of victims in October 27 terrorist action – several members of Armenian National Assembly and one former minister- appeared before the court at today’s hearing.
Former leader of Assembly’s communist fraction Hrant Voskanyan said being at the parliamentary session on October 27,1999, he has heard shooting and laid oneself down lake others. Voskanyan is sure there is some power backing terrorists. They never could do this by themselves, he says.
MP Harutyun Muradyan testified next. Prosecution found abundant contradiction between his testimonies given in the course of preliminary inquiry and during hearings. For example, today, the MP denied his previous statement that he had heard shootings and even grenade explosion outdoors. Besides, the witness said Nairi Hunanyan threatened to kill the president unless the latter come to the Parliament. Today, Muradyan denied these words. Prosecution reminded him about responsibility for perjury.
Another witness, communist Norik Petrosyan, said at that notorious day it seemed to everybody that the terrorists have been waiting for somebody. “It was a real revolution”, he said.
