WORLD SUMMIT OF STABLE DEVELOPMENT IN JOHANNESBURG
Support A1+!From August 26 to September 4 the World Summit of Stable Development will take place in Johannesburg and Armenia’s representatives will make reports at it.
10 years ago our country undertook to carry out number of ecology measures and ratified the Conventions adopted by Planet Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
“For the time being no national council of stable development was set up at Government level and the national strategy of that field is not worked out yet ” ,- the representatives of ecology organizations say. The Social Center for Legal Protection of Environment had organized public hearings under the heading “National Assessment Report Rio + 10” . This report has been ready since last June but our officials haven’t yet had time enough to discuss it. The experts consider as priority N 1 the problems of Sevan Lake, biological diversity and forest protection .
After the Planet Summit 4 laws and more than 200 acts on controlling the ecology sphere in Armenia have been passed which as the experts say “are good but on paper only” .
