JOURNALISTS ARE TO GO THROUGH NEW TRIAL

Social

Armenia’s media is expected to undergo a new ordeal. The government submitted to National Assembly the Journalists Accreditation Order Bill, worked out by Deputy Justice Minister Ashot Abovyan, the author of notorious Mass Media Law.

Abovyan says the document is not copied from any country’s law. “It is unique”, he said Thursday praising his bill at a news conference held in Journalists Union’s office.

Journalistic organizations’ representatives don’t share his opinion. They spoke on omissions and shortcomings at the news conference saying the bill doesn’t ensure unbiased approach in accreditation of journalists.

Criticizing the bil,l “Internews” representative Lusine Abovyan pointed out the main, in her opinion, omission: as a rule, before accreditation journalists are being given innumerous requirements pushed to one side after accreditation.
