ARMENIANS ARE DISLIKED IN GEORGIA

Social

Historian Samvel Karapetyan, representative of the Armenian Office of Organization Studying Armenian Architecture, says the Armenian monuments in Georgia are treated the same way like in Nakhijevan. “What was being done in Azerbaijan by bulldozers and dynamites, is done in Georgia secretly, like a stab in the back”

Many Armenian churches and memorials are represented as Georgian. The Armenian schools are ceased. According to him, many of Armenians in Georgia have to change their surnames not to lose their jobs or property.

The villages resided by Armenians gradually become Georgian-speaking. “There are 450.000 Georgian-speaking Armenians there, which is thrice as much than those speaking Armenian”, historian cites.

He also said a few weeks before an Armenian man had been murdered in his house for speaking Russian.

”It is still possible to return the Armenians in Georgia to the homeland”, Samvel Karapetyan says, adding assistance of Armenian Government and Armenian Apostolic Church are necessary that hasn’t yet been.
