From October 18-21, 2004, the ordinary summit of Asian Seismology Commission will take place in Yerevan. Sergey Balasanyan, Chair of the Armenian Association of Seismology and Geophysics, informed during the conference today that the key task of the summit is to raise information distribution about seismic security among the population.

The best experts from 43 states, including Azerbaijan and Turkey, will partake in the summit. According to Mr. Balasanyan, the summit is special since representatives of executive and legislative bodies, best scientists will take part in it.

By the way, as a result of recent expertise by UNO, the 21st century was declared too active at the matter of seismic danger. Being concerned about the fact, Armenian Association of Seismology and Geophysics decided to again raise the issues regarding seismic security through the summit.

”Anyone in our state must realize that one must not wreck the main walls in buildings since the basis becomes weaker, so the given building becomes less earthquake-proof”, Balasanyan said.
