TAMANYAN’S PLAN HAD SHORTCOMINGS TOO

The chief architect of Yerevan Samvel Danielyan confesses that the main plan of the city is full of shortcomings. “It is impossible to do without them. Even Tamanyan’s plan had shortcomings”, he said during the usual briefing organized in the Yerevan municipality.
As for the shortcomings he means, Danielyan did not go into details. Perhaps he meant the recent announcement by Yervand Zakharyan. Let us remind you that he said that many buildings were included into the main plan due to their impossibility to deconstruct.
The chief architect referred to several urban development programs planned for 2006. Particularly, he spoke about the reconstruction of the four highways.
The area near the St. Grigor Lusavorich Church was supposed to the reconstructed in 2005. The project is ready and the works will start in March. According to the architect, in spring the Komitas avenue will be fully reconstructed. Also, a bridge will be built above the avenue on the crossroad of the Komitas avenue and the Vagharshyan street.
Besides this, the buildings in the 16th district the construction of which ceased more than 15 years ago are also supposed to continue in 2006.
