The cases of bird flu in neighboring Azerbaijan forced Armenians to restart discussions about the ways to protect from bird flu. “Today there is not virus of bird flu in Armenia”, the head of the RA Veterinary state inspection Grigori Baghiryan claimed in the NA. Those responsible for the prevention of bird flu in RA were invited to the NA to inform about their work.
According to Mr. Baghiryan, 230 domestic hens, geese and ducks have died, but the reasons were poisoning, mechanical blows and others, and never bird flu. According to Grigori Baghiryan, the border pass-points are under strict control, and the bird farms have turned into a close area, “where there is no connection with the world outside”. The domestic birds are vaccinated.
One of the deputies asked if we are ready to prevent the virus from penetrating into the country. The deputy Minister of Agriculture Levon Rukhkyan answered, “We cannot be 100% sure. If the virus penetrates into Armenia, we cannot be sure we can stop it”.
By the way, head of the Consumers’ Union Armen Pogosyan noted in an interview to “A1+” that he was near the border on January 6, but there was no control there.
