TRIAL WAS POSTPONED

The court of the first instance of Erebouni and Noubarashen was to start the trial of Gagik Shamshyan, photo correspondent of “Aravot” and “Fourth Power”. The trial was postponed until February 2 through the mediation of Zaruhi Postanjyan, Shamshyan’s advocate. The advocate is preparing a document referring to the violations against journalists in the pre-election period. The document will be sent to several NGOs which will sign it.

Let us remind you that a charge was brought against Gagik Shamshyan on August 17, 2006, according to three articles of the Criminal Code. The charge was brought after Gagik Shamshyan turned to court blaming Noubarashen community head Mher Hovhannisyan for violent actions against him as a journalist.
