RAFFI HOVHANNISSIAN CAME OUT INSTEAD OF PRIME MINISTER

Citizens of those districts who were illegally alienated from their properties tried to invite Serge Sargsyan out of the Governmental building by crying out “Prime Minister, Prime Minister”.

On 13 April the Prime Minister promised to meet the citizens after the elections and solve their problems. “He promised, but did not keep his promise”, said Sedrak Baghdasaryan, president of the “Victims of State Needs” NGO. Nevertheless, the Prime Minister did not meet the citizens again.

The head of the “Heritage” party Raffi Hovhannissian, coming out of the party’s session, said to the people that if they had come to meet the Prime Minister, he was obliged to solve their problems. “I believe that the Prime Minister will carry out his promise”. But when the citizens told their problems, Mr Hovhannissian promised to raise them during the autumn NA session.

Later Armen Harutunyan, the RA Human Rights Defender and Kamo Areyan, the Deputy Mayor of Yerevan approached the citizens. Some of the demonstrators refused to talk to the Deputy Mayor. “They have deceived us for so many times that we will not listen to their lies again”, they said. Kamo Areyan told them that a special group was set up to solve the property problems of the citizens.

The RA Ombudsman Armen Harutunyan invited the citizens to his office to discuss the problems. But that did not satisfy the citizens since they had already turned to the Ombudsman.

“We have come to see the Prime Minister. He should finally solve our problems”, announced the citizens.

After standing in front of the Government building for two ours, people decided that in case their problem was not solved in the coming days they would organize a demonstration in front of the NA.
