ENDLESS LINES ON ARMENIAN-GEORGIAN BORDER

Social

Recently there has been no room to move in the check point of Ninotsminda on the Armenian-Georgian border. The convoy of lorries and passenger vehicles seems endless. Drivers and passengers have to be armed with patience in the Geogian post control until the employees of relevant bodies get used to new computers.

The mess has been caused by the installment of new equipment on the Georgian side and by the lack of corresponding specialists. Frequently minibuses driving to Yerevan had to wait in the check point all day long.

A few weeks ago one of my relatives needed an urgent operation, and we immediately took him to Yerevan. But we had to wait on the Georgian side for 3-4 hours. Can’t they establish an order to avoid lines?” said an Akhalkalaki resident A. Hakobyan.

In the past we didn’t encounter such problems. We had to wait maximum half an hour. Now that I recall the endless lines on the borderline I forget about Armenia and my intention to go there,“ said another traveller.

All the respondents urge the local authorities to address the problem and put an end to long lines.

People having urgent business in Armenia have to change their route and pass through the Bagratashen post control.
