"I shall receover after I swim in Vana Lake"
19-year-old Grigor Minasyan is handicapped from birth.
He is diagnosed with a few diseases part of which has been partly cured. When Grigor was 3.5 months he had а cerebral stroke.
At the age of seven Grigor suffered from chronic liver impairment.
Doctors advised Grigor's parents to take the boy to a dialysis department after he attained the age of 12.
Grigor was able to go to school only three months as soon he was diagnosed with anemia with abnormally low hemoglobin in blood.
"I took my son to school in my hands. Grigor could hardly wait till the end of the lesson. He got over-exhausted, weakened and dripped with sweat. We had to take him to hospital," Grigor's mother, Hripsime Minasyan told A1+.
At the age of 14 Grigor's state got even worse - his legs shivered, he had high blood pressure and nitrogen. As a result, Grigor frequently fainted and had comas. Doctors said Grigor shouldn't be taken to a dialysis treatment as it will give extra pain to the boy. Besides, it was unknown whether the treatment would do any good to Grigor.
"Nevertheless, we agreed to the treatment and wrote an application for dialysis. Grigor regained consciousness in two hours," recalls Mrs. Minasyan.
Grigor has been receiving dialysis three times a week ever since. He is to undergo the treatment to death. Mrs. Hripsime says dialysis is their last glimmer of hope.
Grigor's father soon got ill from stress and anxiety. His nitrogin went up all of a sudden.
Can you imagine a father and a son lying in the same room and receiving dialysis? My husband died in five months," Mrs. Hripsime tells in tears.
Later, doctors diagnosed Grigor with Hepatitis B.
Grigor's life can also be save by transplantation which costs huge sums of money. Mrs. Hripsime is unemployed and lives with her underage son on 35000 drams family benefit and pension.
Grigor spends his time watching TV. He takes a keen interest in history, georgraphy, maps. Mrs. Hripsime says Grigor dreams of going to Vana Lake. "I shall recover only after I swim in the lake, taste its herring and see Mt. Masis. I need no medicine or transplantation once I realize my dream," Mrs. Hripsime cited Grigor's words.
