No renovation works have been carried out in Yerevan State Pedagogical University since the fire of 2008.

"We have lessons in half-burnt and dark auditoriums. About 50 students sit in an auditorium holding 30 seats. Especially, we have difficulties during the lessons of painting. For example during the previous lesson I got a lower mark since I was drawing in the standing position," says student Ani.

YSPU students also complain of moisture and tumult inside the building.

"Though a sign "No Admittance Except on Business" is stuck at the entrance one can see a lot of strangers in the university who interrupt the lessons by opening and closing the doors," said Mary.

YSPU Spokesperson Silva Asrian says the building is too old and it needs to be pulled down. A new building will be erected instead. The decision was made by the Armenian government.
