The Turkish state television TRT will pay a financial compensation to the family of former editor-in-chief of "Agos" Hrant Dink for spreading false information after the court upheld the family's claim.

In December 2008, the television station broadcasted its subsequent program called "Labyrinth of Interests" dedicated to the events of Marash in 1978 when over 100 people died as a result of the conflicts between Aliyevs, Sunnis and Muslims.

One of the guests was nationalist deputy from Marash, Professor Okesh Shandiler who announced that the bloody conflicts were provoked by young left-wing figures, including Hrant Dink.

According to "Azatutyun" radio, the court ruled that Shandiler, TRT and the company that was directly involved in preparing the program series had to pay 20,000 Turkish Lira (nearly 13,000 dollars) to Dink's family. The family will transfer the money to the "Hrant Dink" international foundation.
