Petrol price has gone up in Armenia by 10 drams (3 percent). ON Sunday morning, the price of Regular petrol became AMD 370 and that of Premium AMD 390.

"I think the price hike is resulted by the appreciation of the dollar," said service station attendant Vardan Karapetyan.

However, companies importing petrol to Armenia link the price increase to international prices. Station attendants say the advance in prices reduces the demand for petrol, especially among middle class consumers.

Retailer Artak Terteryan says even the slightest price hike is most concerning.

"The price increase affects the prices of other products, as the cost of transportation is included in the cost price," he said.
