Church remained half-built
A church service takes place at a shack located at the park of Erebuni district every day at 6 p.m. The shack is a replacement for the church to be built nearby.
The construction required the destruction of more than half of the park, but it stopped years ago.
The decision to build a church here was taken by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, which has granted the right to individual ownership of the area to the Erebuni district administration.
"Benefactors have taken on the church construction, but funding stopped due to the financial crisis," said head of the information service of Etchmiadzin, Father Vahram Melikyan.
It is not clear as to when construction will restart.
