Resort or condominium?

Social

Leader of Armenia's Greens (Social-Ecological) Party Armenak Dovlatyan is certain that the construction of a building at "Dragons' Square" is illegal and, according to him, it is not subject to privatization.

The park was privatized in 2002 and has been resold a couple of times. In addition, the certificate of privatization was granted to create a resort and not to build an 18-story condominium.

Mayor of Yerevan Gagik Beglaryan and head of the Nor Nork district Melik Gasparyan visited the park yesterday. However, they disappointed the residents and said that the building was going to be built anyway.

"But the mayor forgets that there is no expert ecological examination," says the leader of the party.

Let us remind that the Minister of Nature Protection has assured that construction won't continue until public hearings on the issue as required by law.

Armenak Dovlatyan is surprised to see the idleness of young members of the Republican Party of Armenia.

"There is a sign which reads that the park is conserved by youth members of the Republican Party of Armenia. We see how they conserve the green areas and especially the "Dragons' Square"," said leader of the Greens Party of Armenia Armenak Dovlatyan.

Public hearings will start soon.
