Holidays in February
Today the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the day of Adam, Noah and Abraham.
The Armenian Apostolic Church is going to celebrate holidays of which Tyarnendarach (associated with fire worship) and St. Sargis are very popular.
Clergyman of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Church of Yerevan, Father Abraham Malkhasyan told "A1+" that Christian holidays should be appreciated, but the Church is not against celebrating popular pagan holidays as well.
On February 14, the Church celebrates Tyarndarach and the Day of St. Sargis on February 19. The Tyarndarach is linked to taking 40-day old Jesus to the temple and is performed in accordance with the Jewish custom.
The Day of St. Sargis can change depending on the day of Easter.
The Great Lent will start on March 7 and will last 48 days. This year the Day of Holy Resurrection will be celebrated on April 24.
