There are 160,000 Armenians on Facebook, which has become more popular than Odnoklassniki, saysinformation security expert, blogger Tigran Kocharyan.

According to him, for Armenian society, Facebook often turns into a battlefield or, to put it in a different way, it serves as a means of self-expression for many.

"This doesn't mean that there are 160,000 Armenians registered on Facebook since each of us can open tens of pages on the network, but only 15-20,000 of them are truly very active. If we look at the pages of Americans or Russians, we won't find as much struggle and heated discussions as we will on Armenians' pages. I get the impression that soon the HAK will hold its rallies on Facebook," said the expert.

Armenia's National Statistical Service estimates the number of Internet users according to home economies. According to the statistics, in 2009 there were over 120,000 Armenians using the Internet and this year there are up to 200,000 users.

Today is World Internet Day. Armenia joined the Internet in 1993, and Arminco was the first company that entered the Internet in the country.
