Principals need to have knowledge
According to the order prescribed by the RA law "On Public Education", a person must pay 90,000 drams to become a school principal. According to the requirement stated in the law, a person must pass a training course, take oral and written exams and then participate in the tender for the vacancy.
Principal of the secondary school in Azatek village of Vayots Dzor province, Azat Ghazaryan, who has passed the test and received his certificate, told "A1+" that this amendment should have been made earlier, even though the training course is not too effective.
"However, I think the training course shouldn't be mandatory. For instance, I didn't think the training course was effective since I didn't learn anything new," said the school principal. He also says it isn't right for a person to pay 90,000 drams for the training course.
Ghazaryan says the idea of taking a test causes tension among people, but if the person knows the answers to the questions, he can pass it.
Ghazaryan took the oral and written tests at school N 114 after Khachik Dashtents in Yerevan. Eight of the principals who took the test didn't receive their certificates, of which six didn't pass the oral exam and two didn't pass the written one. "I don't think television stations should have shown the principals who had failed and were crying," said Azat Ghazaryan.
