Nikita Simonyan turns 85
The National Olympic Committee of Armenia has sent a congratulatory message to Nikita Simonyan on the occasion of his 85th anniversary.
"The great football expert Nikita Simonyan turned 85 years old. He has made a great contribution to the development and increase of the reputation of football in the Soviet Union and Armenia. For the first time ever, Yerevan's "Ararat" football team scored the USSR championship and the cup under his leadership.
Nikita Simonyan has also been a notable football player and record-breaking striker. He is also a multiple USSR champion, recipient of the Gold in the European and Olympic Games, distinguished master of USSR sports and coach, as well as the first vice-president of the Football Association of the Russian Federation.
We are certain that our compatriot, world football legend will continue to serve his beloved sport for many years to come and will transmit his knowledge and experience to his younger partners.
The National Olympic Committee of Armenia congratulates Nikita Simonyan, wishing him good health, longevity and happiness.
