Even seatbelts don’t help
The number of car accidents has grown in Shirak province compared to last year and there is also an increase in the number of citizens who have received injuries of varying degrees and material damage as a result of car accidents. In the past nine months, there have been 93 car accidents thta have left 10 dead and 131 injured.
The major part of the accidents has taken place in Gyumri. Out of the 93 accidents, 40 have taken place in Gyumri, leaving 6 dead and 49 injured.
What is the main reason for the accidents? Most citizens of Gyumri say the reason is because young drivers lack driver's licenses or they drive expensive cars. "They pay and get driver's licenses," the citizens say.
Road police officer of Shirak province Murad Avetisyan assures that the number of car accidents would be higher, if drivers didn't fasten their seatbelts.
