Hovhannes Tamamyan to receive 4-year sentencing?

Prosecutor Harutyun Harutyunyan demanded that the court recognize former Head of the Chief Department of Criminal Investigation of the RA Police Hovhannes Tamamyan guilty under Article 308 (1) and (2) of the RA Criminal Code and sentence him to four years in prison.

Attorney Vaghinak Gevorgyan was surprised by such a sentencing and said there could only be a fine under such articles.

He asked the court for time to prepare the defense speech. The next trial will be held on March 23.
Tamamyan is charged under Article 308 (1) of the RA Criminal Code (misuse of official powers, using official post for interests of service or lack of fulfillment of obligations as a servant based on interests) and under Article 308 (2) (misuse of official powers, which leads to heavy consequences).

The case includes two incidents. The first refers to the murder that took place in Arabkir district and the other is the assassination attempt that took place in Gavar.
