Students and servicemen to clean
By the proposal of the International Council of Monuments and Sightseeing (ICOMOS), UNESCO has been celebrating April 18 as the International Day of Monuments and Sightseeing since 1982. On that day, several events will be held in Yerevan and the provinces, including cleaning of monuments and the nearby areas.
The series of events has already launched by the joint decree of three departments within the framework of the army-education-culture cooperation.
On April 18, more than 4,700 schoolchildren of nearly 370 schools from Yerevan and the provinces and conscripts of the Defense Ministry's military units will participate in the cleaning and improvement of 500 monuments and nearby areas, reports the "Service for the Conservation of Historical-Cultural Reserve-Museums and the Historic Environment" SNCO.
