Appeal to the prosecutor
The activists at Mashtots Park have sent a letter to RA Prosecutor General A. Hovsepyan and Chief of the RA Special investigative Service A. Mirzoyan.
"On April 29, the participants of the peaceful sitting strike at Mashtots Park, respecting the legal and legislative order of the Republic of Armenia, were defending their constitutional rights and were subject to police brutality for that. We have already made a public announcement about this and have mentioned that all the police officers that participated in the illegal acts and assaults must be brought to justice by the corresponding authorities.
It should also be mentioned that after the illegal acts and assaults, when the injured participants of the sitting strike went to the hospital for medical assistance and announced that they would appeal to bring the police that had applied force to justice, the police officers, without any reason, arrested seven people by a crude violation of the law and with the purpose of concealing their illegal acts and assaults, thinking that we wouldn't raise the issue of bringing them to justice after that.
We appeal to you with the demand that you take measures to bring all the police officers that committed the illegal acts and applied force against the participants of the April 29 peaceful sitting strike at Mashtots Park to justice, particularly the high-ranking police officers, including Colonel Robert Melkonyan, Deputy Colonel Karen Movsisyan and Colonel Valery Osipyan in accordance with the RA Constitution, for the establishment of legality and for instilling confidence in our citizens."
