“Serzh Sargsyan is also a parent”
All residents of the Taperakan village of Ararat region, that is, the fellow villagers of Mariam Gevorgyan who was brutally beaten by her mother-in-law, held a protest near the presidential residence today. The protest comes after the court ruled to hold a closed-door trial.
Mariam's father appealed to Serzh Sargsyan with the following: "Serzh Sargsyan is also a parent, let him demand that the judge hold a fair trial. Is it a state secret? Why are they holding a closed-door trial? Let them open the doors so that the people know that there are cruel people like this among the Armenian nation."
Mariam's father had trouble saying what kind of punishment the mother-in-law had to receive for beating and torturing his daughter, but mentioned that people shouldn't punish each other and that a person should repent for what he or she has done.
The fellow villagers didn't agree with that and demanded the strictest punishment.
