27 soldiers died this year
Based on a study by the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office, in the period between 1 January and 20 June 2012, 23 incidents have been registered in the RA Armed Forces, leaving 27 soldiers dead. Out of the 23 incidents, only in 12 cases has the RA Ministry of Defense been the primary source for spreading the information.
In the mentioned period, out of the 27 registered deaths, 11 were registered as a result of ceasefire violations, 4 were registered as a result of suicide or leading to suicide, 1 was registered as a violation of rules of conduct with weapons, 4 were registered as a result of accidents, 3 were registered as a result of health problems and improper medical service, 3 were registered as a result of murders and 1 was registered as a result of clumsiness in military service.
In two of the incidents, three soldiers died on the spot after a car was bombed by the Azerbaijani armed forces on the Aygepar-Movses road, and the other three died during the Azerbaijani army's attempt to penetrate into the Armenian strongholds located in the direction of the Berdavan and Chinar villages of the RA Tavush region.
