Rounds of applause were heard from the courtroom of the general jurisdiction court of the Kentron and Nork-Marash districts of Yerevan after Artak Karapetyan's defense speech in which Karapetyan said he and his friends were innocent and had to be acquitted.

When the judge looked toward the audience, deputy of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) Aram Manukyan mentioned that he had started the rounds of applause to motivate the youth.

"You are offending them. You're not at a theater to applaud," said Judge Gagik Poghosyan.

In response, Aram Manukyan said: "If you announce a fair verdict, I will applaud you as well."
