FIre erupts in Harsnakar Restaurant in Yerevan
A fire broke out in Harsnakar complex restaurant located in Yerevan's Avan administrative district at 4:50 Sept. 21. According to preliminary reports, the entire roof ( 340 square meters) of the building is on fire.The reasons for the fire are still unknown.
Six fire brigades are currently working on the site.
The notorious restuarant owned by Ruben Hayrapetyan, Chairman of Armenia's Football Federation and an MP of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) has been the center of tragic events for months, following a tragic incident which resulted in the death of a military doctor.
On June 17, doctor Vahe Avetyan along with two colleagues was brutally beaten by security guards in the restaurant. Avetyan did not regain consciousness following the beating, and died 12 days later. The uproar following the death of the military doctor made Hayrapetyan renounce his mandate.
According to eye-witnesses, Ruben Hayrapetyan and Samvel Alexanyan, another businessman from the ruling Republican party, are in the restaurant.
Our film crew reports from the ground that Ruben Hayrapetyan insulted journalists who tried to inquire about the fire. His colleague Samvel Alexanyan said he had rushed to the restaurant upon learning the news about the incident. He did not exclude that the fire was caused by barbeque equipment.
The fire was put out at 5:38.
