H1N1

Yerevan polyclinics have been working in emergency regime for already several days. After New Year the number of patients with acute respiratory infections has drastically increased. On the average daily 20 people apply to a polyclinic, besides, about 20 home calls are received. “The factor of having caught a cold is important, the calls have increased after heavy snow, and people are in panic and think that they have been infected with Swine flu. When calls are received, we go and see that there is nothing serious, people call in order to calm down,” says therapist of No 1 polyclinic Raisa Badalyan. During these days the ambulance service has also been overloaded with work. During first ten days of 2016, 9611 calls have been received and 1567 people were taken to hospital. There were cases when the ambulance service wasn’t able to get to the patients rapidly. “People must understand when to call ambulance. A big brigade of ambulance shouldn’t be called in that case, there is no such thing in the whole world,” says Director of the Emergency Medical Service CJSC Taguhi Stepanyan. Mrs. Stepanyan urges people to visit polyclinics for medical examination. And if in polyclinics you are told that it is H1N1 virus, you must know, that in polyclinics such a disease cannot be diagnosed and if symptoms are noticed, the patients are given a referral to a hospital.
