Local businessman denied access to his own restaurant (video)
Armenian businessman Gnel Hayrapetyan is denied access to his own restaurant in Tsakhkadzor. After operating “Arka” (King) restaurant for 7 years, Gnel rented it to his neighbour Onik Baghdasaryan. “We agreed that he [Baghdasaryan] would leave the restaurant some time later after paying the rent. But when I went to see him and reminded him of the agreement, he said he would give me neither the money nor the restaurant. Moreover, he threatened to burn the building if I got any closer,” Gnel Hayrapetyan says. The owner was unable to get beck his property even after the intervention of the police although Onik Baghdasaryan had assured them that he would not prevent the owner from entering the territory. “The area belongs to me and I got permission to supply the building with water and electricity. The municipality had put up the area for sale and I bought it,” Gnel says. Anyway, the Administrative Court annulled the sale of the land by the Tsakhkadzor Municipality, substantiating its decision by the fact that Onik Baghdasaryan was unaware of it. “The announcement was published in the daily - Republic of Armenia. I do not think that the City Hall was to knock on all doors to inform everyone about the auction,” says the businessman. Gnel Hayrapetyan has appealed to the Administrative Court of Appeal to challenge the decision of the Administrative Court. The court sitting is slated for June 15. We tried to contact to Onik Baghdasaryan to know his position on the matter but without success.
